The IT List: Inspirational Instagram Accounts to Follow

If you’re into design at all, it’s a must to follow some inspirational Instagram accounts. Who would know better which designer accounts to follow that someone who’s an interior designer? So we asked Leslie Mark, principal of Leslie Mark Studio, a Kansas City-based interior design firm to clue us in on some of her favorites. Mark designs with an eye toward the unexpected, and her picks reflect that. You can follow her at @lesliemarkstudio.

Arent & Pyke Studio @arentpykestudio

I find Australian interior design to be refreshingly inventive in general, and this is my favorite Aussie firm, headed up by Juliette Arent and Sarah-Jane Pyke. Their interiors are boldly feminine and modern, accentuated by their expert command of color and texture.

Clements Design @clementsdesign

This LA-based mother-and-son team is the design force behind some of my favorite celebrity homes, most notably those of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi. Clements’ interiors strike an ideal balance between drama and subtlety; they’re brimming with stunningly expensive vintage pieces (Jean Royère sconces are a favorite), but still manage to feel unpretentious and comfortable.

Kelly Wearstler @kellywearster

Wearstler’s Instagram offers fearless design inspiration that keeps me thinking ahead. Her interiors are works of art, often featuring wild custom furnishings, rare vintage finds, and lots and lots of marble. Plus, her avant-garde fashion ensembles are equally inspiring.

Neal Beckstedt Studio @nealbeckstedt

For quintessential warm modernism, I turn to Neal in New York. His designs are beautifully tailored and thoughtful down to the smallest detail, but then he throws in an unexpectedly organic accent, like a vintage rug or giant sponge, to take the edge off. Not kidding about the giant sponge.
