Lucent Lightshop features KC designer’s light sconce, proceeds support local charity

Kansas City-based designer Julie Arnold of Place Interiors recently debuted a light fixture that won Lucent Lightshop’s Design Challenge. Inspired by vintage objects and lighting from Scandinavia, France, and Italy, the sconce offers functionality and contemporary style.

“The design includes shades with rich saturated color options that definitely makes this sconce unique,” Arnold says. “I can already envision them in some of my projects and since they are articulating, they will work well in bedrooms, kitchens, reading nooks, and office spaces.”

Arnold created the sconce with the help of her 15-year-old son, James. He worked on the 3-D rendering of the light fixture.

The best part about the Haven Sconce is Arnold had the opportunity to pick her favorite charity after winning the competition, and 10% of sales will go to the HALO Foundation.

“I’ve volunteered with HALO for many years supporting their mission, teaching some of their art-therapy workshops, and valuing the important life-changing work they do for at-risk and homeless youth,” says Arnold. “I started a program for them called HALOmakers, where youth in the program are given a chance to learn valuable life skills through the entire process of making a product.”

The Haven Sconce is available here through Lucent Lightshop.
