As the nation’s barbecue capital, we take National Barbecue Month seriously around these parts—and there’s no better way to celebrate than with Q39’s Q Champion Meat Platter.
Available only during the month of May, the meat platter arrives at your table piled high with Q39’s top meat options: brisket, burnt ends, pulled pork, chicken, ribs, and chipotle sausage—and a flight of Q39’s barbecue sauces.
The platter is only available in the restaurant, and you’ll want to bring some friends to help you eat it. The meat platter feeds four for $25 per person.
While celebrating National Barbecue Month, you’ll also get to know Q39’s new executive chef, Philip Thompson, who curated the platter.
Thompson joined Q39 in April, filling the shoes of late owner and executive chef Rob Magee. Thompson comes to Kansas City after 17 years with Hilton Hotels, spending the largest chunk of his career as the executive chef at the Capital Hilton in Washington, D.C., where he served high-profile guests and events.
Based on the response to the Q Champion Meat Platter, he’s quickly proving himself as the perfect chef to take the reins at Q39. But don’t take our word for it, head to Q39’s location in Midtown (1000 W 39th Street) or Overland Park (11051 Antioch Road) and see for yourself.
