The April 8 eclipse, known as the “The Great North American Eclipse,” will travel a narrow path south to north across the US. Although Kansas City isn’t in the path of totality, the partial eclipse, at 89 percent, will still be worth viewing.
Legends Outlets watch party on the lawn will be an excellent location to observe the event. NASA ambassador Danielle Jones will be at Legends Outlets to answer questions and share information about this solar eclipse. This will be the last total eclipse viewable in the metro until 2044, so take advantage of this opportunity!
Eclipse glasses are a must for watching the process, and while the Legends Outlets will be providing the special glasses, it will be on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. To be sure you’re protected, might want to bring your own. NASA’s live feed will also be playing on the big screen.
Here’s the schedule:
Eclipse Watch Party
Noon – 3 p.m.
Begins at 12:37 p.m.
Peaks at 1:54 p.m.
Ends at 3:11 p.m.
And of course, fingers crossed for a sunny day. Who can forget our cloudy, rainy weather in 2017 that made eclipse viewing a chancy prospect?
The Lawn at Legends Outlets, 1843 Village West Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas. Located at the west end of Legends Outlets.
