To walk around Kansas City this time of year is to subject yourself to Chiefs gear envy. Everybody’s wearing something different. Everybody looks so fly.
Some of what you see is official Chiefs merchandise, some was official merch last millennium, and some was crafted by local clothing makers. You can find official Chiefs gear at big-box stores, but you’ll find the rest at boutiques and vintage shops across town.
Note: If we missed your favorite spot, let us know by emailing digitaleditor@inkansascity.com.
Anchora Bella
We dig the Gameday Collection at Anchora Bella, a (mostly) women’s boutique in Lee’s Summit. Retro sweatshirts, tees, socks—all of it is like seeing the past rendered fresh and baby faced. The Ivory Helmet Champions Sweatshirt might show you what we mean.
Charlie Hustle
Big ol’ duh here. You’ll find tees, hoodies, jackets, and more in Charlie Hustle’s KC Football collection. What caught our eye is the “Kansas City versus the World” gear (here’s the T-shirt), because if everyone hates us these days, we might as well wear it.
Eb and Co.
Eb and Co. is the spot for little accessories. The Country Club Plaza boutique has rings, (which you’ve seen on Taylor Swift), earrings, keychains, hair clips, and more still in its Kansas City Collection. They’re all delightful.
Made in KC
In ten locations across the metro, Made in KC sells swag from local clothing makers, including Charlie Hustle, Eb & Co., Ampersand Studio, and Sandlot Goods. You’ll find original designs on its racks, too. Tees, hats, socks, stickers, pins—it’s worth it to stop in.
Thrifted Threadzzzz
Thrifted Threadzzzz, a tucked-away second-story spot on Westport Road, often has a wicked selection of vintage Chiefs gear. We’ve seen tees, jackets, and full-on winter coats in remarkable shape. Stop in Thursday from noon to 6 p.m., Friday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., or Wednesday by appointment.
Westside Storey
Westside Storey is a combination of old and new. Its vintage offerings are premium, but you’ll pay for it. The modern clothing is more affordable and, like Made in KC, is made by a variety of local retailers.
