It’s almost KC Fringe time. From July 12 to July 28, Kansas City’s creatives get a spotlight with no filters. You’ll see films, visual art, and live performances of just about any category (or no category at all) across the city.
It all starts with the films, showing this weekend at the intimate, neon-faced Stray Cat Film Center. Here’s the lineup:
- The Moonlight Mist Stories by StevenShadeFilms: Friday at 10:30 p.m. and Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
- The Fountain City Spectacular by The Bird Comedy Theater: Friday at 9 p.m. and Saturday, 10:30 p.m.
- The Discipleship Video Series by New Digital Pathways: Saturday at 3 p.m. and Sunday, 4:30 p.m.
- Mise-en-Scène by Independent Filmmakers Coalition: Friday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday, midnight
- KCCAT Presents The Weirdos Comedy Hour by KCCAT and Forest Kinsey Films: Saturday at 9 p.m. and Sunday, 6 p.m.
- Blood by Wayward Visuals: Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday, 3 p.m.
- 140 Characters Sneak Preview by 140 Characters: Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, 7:30 p.m.
You can get a preview of the festival at the Kansas City Public Library’s Plaza branch on July 11 and again—this time a “flash preview” where you’ll get a minute of each live performance—on the 18th at The Arts Asylum.
Throughout it all, you can visit the festival’s art galleries. One opens Saturday in Union Station’s Grand Hall and runs until July 27; the other, the KC Fringe Blue Gallery, is at Gael’s Public House & Sports until the end of the month.
