On Jan. 13, Cooper’s Hawk Winery & Restaurant opened its third location in the Kansas City metro. This one’s in the Northland on a quiet corner of North Platte Purchase and Northwest Tiffany Springs. Its dining room is swanky, dimly lit and complete with jazz and helpful servers. Its menu includes a mind-melting bite: the Parmesan-crusted filet medallions.

Consider the surf and turf combination with the Parmesan-crusted filet medallions for the turf; that way, you’ll get two medallions compared to one in the filet-medallion trio. They’re discs of medium-rare steak (if you get it how the chef prefers to serve it) capped with melty Parmesan of equal proportion. Take a bite. The ambient jazz disappears, your eyes close, and the taste consumes your senses. Savor it.

Extra Tip: The crispy Brussels sprouts—which are topped with crumbled cashews and drizzled with a sweet and spicy sauce—are lovingly prepared and addicting. Try them as an appetizer.
