Reel talk! 46 Penn Centre—the new 14-story corporate office building on the Country Club Plaza—announced today that will open Ocean Prime Restaurant + Prime Social Rooftop this fall. The concept is a unique double whammy and includes both the restaurant and a new extension to the brand with a rooftop lounge, Prime Social, which will welcome guests to the building’s enclosed rooftop. (They had us at outdoor seating and a fire pit.)
Not only is Kansas City the newest location for the upscale Ocean Prime chain; it will also be the first location in Missouri. Construction will begin in the next two months. The Plaza locale will be the 17th Ocean Prime restaurant since the concept launched in 2008 in Columbus, Ohio. (It’s since expanded to 12 states and the District of Columbia.) “Ocean Prime is one of the finest restaurants in the U.S. and is the perfect partner to provide that elevated guest experience,” says Ken Block, managing principal of Block Real Estate Services.
With an expansive 8,500 square feet of space, including three private dining rooms and a peninsula bar, the restaurant offers an extensive menu, including prime steaks, chops, chicken, and seafood. Prime Social, meanwhile, will feature a 5,500 sq. ft. rooftop lounge. “Prime Social will be a cool rooftop oasis and an ideal spot for guests to sip, savor, and surround themselves within the cityscape,” says Mitch Miller, vice president of Ocean Prime.
