On Friday, November 2nd, Kansas City’s iconic restaurant and winner of the 2018 Design Icon James Beard Award, The American, opened its doors exclusively for Just Like You Films‘ supporters.

We enjoyed an offering of the finest wine and cocktails, a beautiful private dining experience presented by Chef Andrew Longres, trained at The French Laundry in Napa, and dancing before a spectacular view of the KC skyline.

Valerie Bailey performed an original song written by her and Award-winning, Grammy-nominated composer, Christopher Troy especially for JLY and the brave kids who step in front of the camera to create a more compassionate world. Valerie has shared the stage with heavy hitters and multiple Grammy Award winners like Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, David Foster, and the legendary band, Earth, Wind and Fire – her husband and lead singer, Phillip Bailey.
