About C100

The Mission
The Committee of 100 is dedicated to planning and implementing signature fundraising events for the benefit of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

Who We Are
The Committee of 100 (C100) is an organization of volunteers who believe deeply in advancing the mission of the Nelson-Atkins, enhancing its programs and collections, and keeping admission free for all.

The History
The C100 was formed in the summer of 2012. The original charge from Sarah Rowland, then Board of Trustees Chair of The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, was to identify and develop a signature fundraiser for the museum. The resulting ad hoc committee, chaired by Joan Marsh, included members Ann Baum, Mary Lou Brous, Karen Craft, Shirley Helzberg, Daisy MacDonald, Jeanne Sosland, and Liza Townsend.

The plan was to invite 100 members to form a dedicated group to plan and execute events on behalf of the museum. Instead, more than 500 people joined as Charter Members. “The Committee of 100” name remains as a reminder of such resounding enthusiasm that kickstarted the committee.
