Is time flying or what? This weekend, raise a toast to the February that was and the March to come with the following events across Kansas City.

Morgan Jay
Feb. 28
If you haven’t seen—or, maybe more aptly, felt—Morgan Jay, you’re in for something special. He’s a singing stream of consciousness comedian who builds his act around audience participation, and he’s performing at The Midland Theatre at 7 p.m. on Friday. Tickets start at $35.

One Bedroom Apartment opening reception
March 1
Saturday evening from 5 to 8, the West Bottoms art venue Gallery Bogart is holding the opening reception for One Bedroom Apartment, an art gallery with works ranging in price from $100 to $400. The artists, 17 in total, are from the Kansas City region and beyond. Shop or just admire.
March 1
In the Mardi Gras mood? It’s popping off in Power & Light this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mardi Pardi is free to enter and features a pet parade, a king cake-eating contest, and decorations aplenty. Drink packages and a scoop from the crawfish boil are available for purchase.

Instrumental music across KC
Various dates
There’s always music playing in Kansas City, but traditional instrumentalists have a big weekend coming up. Here’s a look.
Saturday night, the Kansas City Jazz Orchestra plays the Folly with guests Lucy and Bram Wijnands. At the same time, classical music powerhouse Park ICM will hold its annual “Stanislav & Friends” concert down the road at the Kauffman Center. Then, Project Trio—a genre-blending chamber music ensemble—takes over at the Kauffman for “Sonic Time Travel” on Sunday.

Native American Cultural Festival
March 2
Head to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday for the Native American Cultural Festival. It’s a free event that’ll have a presence in both museum buildings. Activities in the Nelson-Atkins Building will include Native American art spotlights, live cultural performances, and crafting; the Bloch Building will have Native American art activities and a learning station.
