No plans this weekend? No problem! We’ve got six great events across the city to pique your interest.
ULAH’s Rainbow Blvd Pride Block Party June 8
ULAH’s celebrating Pride month with an evening of outdoor games and special guests! The party features drinks by Mike’s Wine & Spirits, music by DJ Ashton Martin and DJ Hydan, and pop-ups from many local vendors. Ten percent of every purchase during the event (and all of June) goes to support Transformations KC.
36th Annual Sugar Creek Slavic Festival June 9-10
Celebrating the heritage of the Slavic Nations family, this festival boasts an impressive array of cultural cornerstones. Feast on kolaches, kielbasa, and cabbage rolls before joining America’s largest Kolo dance circle. Grammy-winner Brave Combo joins the party on June 10, but you can find hand-painted Ukrainian eggs all weekend long. Na Zdravje!
7th Annual Arts in the Park June 9-10
Artists across the Midwest showcase their wares at Arts in the Park. Now in its seventh year, this North Kansas City festival is dedicated to fine arts and local makers, particularly those from Kansas and Missouri. Families are always welcome here, and the weekend also offers a petting zoo, face painting, and live music.
KC Pride Parade & Festival June 9-11
The parade kicks off June 10, but Theis Park is coming alive for the LGBTQ+ Pride festival all weekend, featuring everything from local acts to national recording artists. Local vendors and food trucks will be available, and, while all ages are always welcome, Sunday’s events are particularly focused on family-friendly entertainment and activities.
KC Pet Project 5K June 10
What’s better than a beautiful walk on a Saturday morning? That’s right—a walk that supports KC Pet Project and the care of the over 15,000 animals that come through their doors every year. Run or walk this Swope Park 5K and receive a commemorative race shirt and bib.
