The Kansas City Repertory Theatre has been producing professional theater in Kansas City for over 50 years. Their annual gala is fast approaching. Join the KCRep at The Abbott to raise funds that will support productions, youth education programs, and community accessibility programming. Plan to dress up, drink, dine, and be merry.Â
Women’s Self-Defense Seminar April 1
Warriors Academy KC is partnering with Rose Brooks Center and Pura Vida KC to host a women’s self-defense class in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. To attend the seminar, plan to bring a donation for Rose Brooks Center. Their immediate needs include individually wrapped shelf-stable snacks, women’s size small pajamas, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, textured hair products, baby wipes, cleaning supplies, and cat litter (unscented).
2023 Lyric Opera Ball: Celebrating Stephen Sondheim, Send in the Clowns! April 1
If you’re a fan of Sondheim or the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, you won’t want to miss this fundraiser. The evening will start with cocktails, a silent auction, wine pull, purse pull, and raffle, followed by a gourmet multi-course dinner, vocal entertainment, and dancing to the band Lost Wax. Expect elegant clowns, jesters, mimes, and maybe even a magician to walk among you.
SF Jazz Live at the GEM KC April 1
The American Jazz Museum has brought back Jammin’ at the Gem with a full season of national Grammy-Award-winning artists. SF Jazz will take the stage Saturday night to perform fresh arrangements of works by a modern master and newly commissioned pieces by each member. Collectively, the jazz ensemble has created over 100 new arrangements and original compositions.
Menopause The Musical April 2
Calling the sisterhood! At Menopause The Musical, four women at a lingerie sale have nothing in common but a black lace bra and memory loss, hot flashes, night sweats, and more. The musical parody is set to classic tunes from the ’60s, ’70s, and ’80s and has plenty of laughs in store.
