It’s going to be a spooky weekend, KC, and there’s no way around it. Only through it. Here’s what’s going on this pre-Halloween weekend.
If you’re looking for a haunted house, we listed Kansas City’s top five. If we had to pick one? The immersive carnival experience at EXILED: Crooked Rose Woods.
Brass & Boujee and Hip-Hops Hooray
Oct. 25-26
We’ll start with something less spooky, but plenty tasty. Vine Street Brewing Co. is throwing a two-day festival.
It starts Friday night with a costume contest and a performance by 20-piece hip-hop band Brass & Boujee. The next day is Hip-Hops Hooray, a craft beer festival with brews from over 25 breweries. Take in live hip-hop performances while you sample the beers.
Disney’s Hocus Pocus in Concert
Oct. 25-27
If you haven’t been to one of Kansas City Symphony’s Film + Live Orchestra shows, you should go. It’ll add an entirely new level of love for your favorite movies.
If you’re a Hocus Pocus fan, this is your weekend. The 1993 fantasy comedy hits the Helzberg screen at Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts three times this weekend—at 8 p.m. on Friday and 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The Kansas City Symphony, guest conducted by Jacob Joyce, will perform every note of the score.
Bar K’s 8th Annual Howl-O-Ween Party
Oct. 25
This Friday, some of Kansas City’s cutest residents will be even cuter. Dress up your pup and head to Bar K’s 8th Annual Howl-O-Ween.
Your dachshund could be a brat. Your Great Pyrenees a cumulus cloud. Your chihuahua a cup of coffee. The costume is between you and your dog. Just bring them to Bar K and enjoy doggo trick or treating, a treat-making station, costume contests, and more. It starts at 6 p.m. and runs until 10.
ARTy Halloween pARTy at St John Gardens
Oct. 25
Creative Kansas Citians will dig the ARTy Halloween pARTy at St. John Gardens. It’s in a lovely little community garden in Northeast KC, and there’ll be music (you’re encouraged to bring your own instrument), s’mores, hot apple cider, and meat on the fire. Party starts at 7 p.m.
Terror in Electric Park
Oct. 26
J. Rieger & Co. is throwing a party party. The distillery’s garden bar will be slammed full of frights and fun for Terror in Electric Park. Just a taste of what’s planned: booming DJ performances, a giant ball pit, tarot card readings, circus performers, and costumed Kansas Citians. Tickets start at $60 and include two drink tickets. Party starts at 8 p.m.
