When collectors exhibit their art, their home is designed around the art rather than vice versa.
Contemporary Classic
Interior designer Michael Sandridge revamped this Crown Center condo around the art and the midcentury furniture. Two Greg Eltringham paintings flank a Jesse Christopher painting in the living room. Classic midcentury Wassily chairs and a B&B Italia sofa provide seating. The killer view is the cherry on top.
Living with Art
Almost every surface of Sharon and John Hoffman’s home displays a painting, drawing, collage, or sculpture from their vast contemporary art collection. In the living room, two midcentury-modern rosewood-framed blue-velvet sofas face a Ursula von Rydingsvard sculpture. Hanging over the credenza is a Lynette Yiadom-Boakye painting. Opposite is a Theaster Gates assemblage and a portrait of Michelle Obama by Hank Willis Thomas.
Every Inch
When your life revolves around art, as it does for the gallerist Toma Wolff, every room is an opportunity for display. Sometimes, it can even be a hallway or a staircase as seen here. She took the opportunity to showcase smaller pieces, including a Hendrik Kerstens photograph, top left; Peregrine Honig’s painted gloves, middle, second row; and an Annie Liebowitz photograph, bottom of the fourth row.
