Laundry Day: Three Versatile Laundry Rooms

It’s the location of the dreariest of chores, but there’s no reason why the laundry room can’t be zhushed up with fun finishes, or even do double duty as a prep kitchen or mudroom.

Small But Mighty

Interior Designer Natalie O’Shaughnessy had walls torn down and doors moved to create a first-floor laundry close to the primary closet and bathroom. It’s small, but a lot of purpose is packed into the space. The cool blue hue of the Quadrille wallcovering is compatible with the primary suite’s dominant colors.

Triple Threat

This Alameda Towers condo’s laundry room does triple duty. Designed by Geri Higgins of Portfolio Kitchen & Home, it’s a laundry/utility/catering kitchen marvel. It’s wrapped in marble tile making it super easy to clean. One side of the room is dominated by the laundry tasks, while the opposite side features the required kitchen appliances.

It’s a Dog’s Life

“Best in Show” Osborne & Little wallpaper covers the walls in a mudroom/laundry room in the Bonner Springs home of interior designer Julie Ransopher Baker. The wall behind the washer and dryer is clad in white, beveled subway tile, while the floor is tiled in three-inch hexagon tiles.
