Patrick Madden of Madden-McFarland Interiors is pulling double duty while on assignment at the High Point Market in North Carolina. 1) He’s checking out some killer design trends for 2020 and 2) he’s doing some reconnaissance for our magazine as well. He puts the roving in roving reporter.
In case you’re not familiar, the High Point Market is mammoth—in fact, it’s the biggest furniture market in the world with over 2,000 exhibitors from all over the world spread throughout 180 different buildings. (Let’s hope Madden wore sensible shoes. I mean, he’s got around 10 million square feet to cover—give or take.)
Here’s his take from the first day of seeing and being seen:
“This year saw a noticeable amount of satured color punctuating the grays and greiges trend of the past several years. Blues and greens are particularly hot—from deep, inky sapphires to serene spruces. They’ve added a welcomed richness that has been lacking in home design—it’s like welcoming back old friends. Chaddock, Highland House, Lilian August, and Baker did noticeably well embracing timeless colors.”
