Sunday’s the big day, but there’s fun lined up throughout Easter weekend in Kansas City. Here’s a rundown, from egg hunts to bunny brunches.
1. Bunnypalooza
Bunnypalooza runs from April 19 to 20 at KC Pumpkin Patch in Olathe, with Easter egg hunts, farm games, a candy cannon, and an appearance by the season’s busiest bunny.
2. Easter Hop-Up Bar
On the same property as the pumpkin patch, KC Wine Co.’s Easter Hop-Up Bar (which is free to enter!) will have wine, cider, and specialty cocktails for the grownups. It’s open 4-9 p.m. on Friday and noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday.
3. Easter Train at Kansas City Northern Railroad
Kansas City Northern Railroad in Frank Vaydik Park operates several miniature—but very much rideable—trains, and their Easter Train hits the tracks this Saturday. Rides are $1, and there’s also an Easter-themed playground and pictures with the Easter Bunny himself.
4. Easter Weekend at the KC Wheel
From Friday to Sunday, the KC Wheel—that bright and colorful beaut off I-35 just south of the Crossroads—will have treat-filled eggs scattered across the grounds. The first 100 visitors each day will get a Russell Stover chocolate bunny with their ticket.
5. Easter Brunch at Barley’s Kitchen + Tap in Overland Park
There’s a nice Easter Sunday brunch at Barley’s Kitchen + Tap’s Overland Park location. You’ll find a prime rib carving station, shrimp cocktails, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and more. Adults eat for $45, kids from 6 to 14 eat for $12, and kids under 6 eat for free. More details here.
6. Tivoli Presents: Easter in Art
Here’s something different: a documentary about Easter’s portrayal in art from its inception to the present day, and from Jerusalem to the United States. You can watch it at the Tivoli at the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Grab tickets here.
7. Brunch & Easter Egg Hunt at The Puttery
On Easter Sunday, The Puttery—a fancy indoor mini-golf spot in the Country Club Plaza—is hosting a brunch and “Puttery-style” Easter egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations are free; make them here.
8. Easter Paint-and-Sip Class
Saturday afternoon at Westport’s Hook Gallery & Framing, there will be an Easter-themed paint-and-sip class. Grab a ticket, sip some wine, and let your brush go along for the ride.
9. Easter Fun at Legends Outlets
On Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the Easter Bunny—as well as actual bunnies—will be out for photos on The Lawn at Legends Outlets. There will also be a free plushie and Peter Rabbit on the movie screen. Here’s more event information.
10. Easter Runs
If you want to make room for whatever comes in your basket, consider an Easter run on Saturday. The Always Hope Easter Run at Mill Creek Park has a 5K, a 10K, and a half-marathon. The Easter Egg 5K & 10K in Overland Park will have post-race food and drinks.
11. Easter Egg Hunts Galore
Plenty of the events above have Easter egg hunts for the kiddos (and even adults), but there are loads more.
We’ll highlight a few: On Friday and Saturday, kids seven and under can hunt for eggs at Urban Air trampoline park during Jumperoo. There’s also a hunt during high tea at Coffey Grounds in Stillwell on Saturday, and a competitive “Adventure Race” hunt at the Mary Williams-Neal Community Center the same day.
