AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk, the long-awaited sports, wellness, and entertainment hub in Overland Park, opened to the public Saturday. Just over 5,000 people were on hand for the grand opening.
The state-of-the-art facility, designed and operated by nationally recognized Sports Facilities Companies, is part of Bluhawk, the growing Price Brothers development at 159th Street and Antioch Drive in Overland Park. It’s the latest step in Bluhawk’s march to becoming the Kansas City metro’s go-to spot for shopping, dining, and sports.
Welcome Home, Jayhawks
AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk will be home ice for the KU Hockey Club for the 2024-2025 season. Coach Andy McConnell’s Jayhawks will take the ice ten times at AdventHealth Sports Park this season, starting on Nov. 1 with a Friday night matchup against the Arkansas Razorbacks.
“It’s exciting to bring that here,” says Hannah Smith, the sports park’s marketing coordinator. “We have a huge KU crowd, but even those who aren’t KU fans—just hockey fans—will have the opportunity to go watch teams they don’t often get to see.”
Fans will have access to the venue’s bars, dining options, family entertainment center, and weekly tailgating party in the mezzanine. Season passes are $80 for adults and $40 for children, students, seniors, and military. Single game passes are $10/$5. High-top and suite seating are available, as well.
Every Jayhawk homestand will be a weekend series. They’ll play Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays at 4:15 p.m.

Sharing the Ice
The Jayhawks aren’t the only birds at Bluhawk. AdventHealth Sports Park’s in-house hockey club, the Icehawks, will begin play this fall on the regulation NHL/NCAA sized rink. It’s also the home venue for the Silver Blades Figure Skating Club.
When the birds or Silver Blades aren’t on the ice, the rink is open for daily public skate sessions, with just $5 skate rentals and $12 admission. It will also host adult drop-in hockey leagues, open-ice stick-and-puck sessions, and youth Learn to Play and Learn to Skate sessions. This Saturday, Nov. 2, kids 4 to 9 can try hockey for free.

From the Rink to the Fieldhouse
AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk has extensive plans off the ice, too. From November through March, KC Power Volleyball will train and compete on the fieldhouse’s four hardwood courts and KC Surf Soccer club will train and host tournaments on a 3,564-square-yard indoor turf field. Come April, they’ll remove the turf to expose an additional four hardwood basketball courts (or eight volleyball courts).
“Our court area converts to a 3,200-seat championship arena,” says Smith. “This could be used for concerts, graduations, dance and cheer competitions, and other spectator events.”
Organizers say several programs for the public, including camps and clinics, are in the works for the courts and field.
Futuristic Family Fun
Futuristic Family FunHawk’s Outpost, the expansive family entertainment center, is free to enter. It has an 84-station arcade, a laser tag arena, ten lanes of bowling with optional interactive projections on the lanes, and sports simulators. A roll-glider course zips through the outpost—even above the laser tag arena—and gives a thrilling hawk’s-eye view of the complex.
“You even have the option to add laser tag to your roll-glider ride so you can play from up above,” says Smith.
Meanwhile, LEVELUP Arena has multiple esports stations and even offers gaming boot camps.
All of this, including the ice rink, can be reserved for birthday parties, holiday parties, corporate events, and more.
“With the holidays coming up, people will want to book events early,” says Smith. “There are a lot of different options. People can even rent out the mezzanine or the hockey rink for 300-, 400-person events.”
Eat and Drink
You shouldn’t leave AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk hungry. It has two dining options: the Elevate Grab-and-go Café, which will offer food and beverage options for a quick healthy snack or lunch, and a bar and grill offering elevated drinks and chef-prepared dishes.
