Big Slick has evolved in the last 13 years. What began as a celebrity poker tournament with hosts Rob Riggle, Paul Rudd, and Jason Sudeikis is now an entire weekend of entertainment with a dazzling array of celebrity guests. Eric Stonestreet and David Koechner soon joined the hosting roster, and Heidi Gardner was added this year.
“We don’t play poker anymore, which makes the name Big Slick very confusing,” Paul Rudd said at a press conference on Friday. The schedule of events included a short game of Friendly Feud with some of the Children’s Mercy patients alongside the host’s invited guests. “We talk about the loving feeling in the air all weekend, but when it comes down to [Friendly] Feud, it’s definitely vicious,” said Rudd.
“The stakes couldn’t be higher,” added Rob Riggle.
When asked if the hosts had any predictions on who the winners might be, Jason Sudeikis quickly responded, “The kids are the winners.”
Children’s Mercy cared for over 230,000 children last year, from all 50 states and 16 countries. What keeps the hosts coming back? “This is our hometown, we love this town, and the mission is critical,” said Rob Riggle. In its 13 years, Big Slick has donated more than $17 million to Children’s Mercy.
Tickets are still available for the Big Slick Party & Show on Saturday night. The event will contain adult humor and is described as “not suitable for children.”
