It’s Border Star Montessori’s 100th anniversary. It’s the same for JE Dunn. A local nonprofit, PrincipalsConnect partnered with JE Dunn to renovate the teacher’s work space at Border Star. They worked with HGTV Design Star winner Jennifer Bertrand on the transformation. Spring break provided just the opportunity, and the completed reno was revealed when the staff returned on April 1.
“It feels like you enter a completely different building,” said one teacher. According to another, “The lounge before was not a place you wanted to congregate. But now I’ll get to see everybody in a place that’s so beautiful!”
In addition to JE Dunn and Jennifer Bertrand, many other organizations and individuals contributed to the project:
- Kenny’s Tile
- Chris Duh + Creative
- Staco Electric
- MVP Painting
- Stanger Industries
- Sherwin-Williams
- Katalyst
- Fairwave Coffee
- Good Earth Floral
- Schutte Lumber
- Tamara & Josh Hudson + Friends
- Nothing Bundt Cakes
- Many volunteers who gave their time and talents to this project
Following the dedication, teachers enjoyed the donated Nothing Bundt Cake and toured the new space. One teacher shared, “It’s so nice to be able to have a sense of community and a beautiful space and know that we’re cared about. It’s really awesome.”
