Over 100 Artists with Work for Sale

The 2024 featured artist is Megan Leong, a Kansas City area-based painter who has loved creating art for as long as she can remember. Detailing her creative process on this year’s featured artwork, Megan shared, “I sought to capture the inviting and vibrant atmosphere of the art show. People dancing to the live music near the clock tower, artists sharing their work that they have poured their hearts into, and the smells and tastes of delicious food all make this event such a fun way to spend a summer day or evening. I chose to use colors and shapes that would capture the feeling of the event in an abstract and expressive way. I spent time walking around The Shops of Prairie Village, taking photos of flowers in planters and the colors of the storefronts and kept those handy as inspiration when creating my piece. I layered the floral images with the clock tower image, creating a memory or dreamlike feel. The hummingbirds seemed the perfect addition, acting as heralds of summer. This piece is a celebration of the vibrant past and future of the Prairie Village Art Show.” Be sure to view Megan’s work during the art show at Booth 25.

Returning to the art show this year are three of the 2023 award winners:

  • Best of Show, Kristin Schillaci, a fine-art photographer who creates museum quality archival inkjet prints on fine art paper. Kristin is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and will be located in Booth 29.

  • Best of Photography, Justin Key, a fine art landscape photographer based in Denver, Colorado, will be located in Booth 14.

  • Best of Mixed Media, Aaron Coleman, a 2-D Mixed Media artist who strives to communicate an archetypal design through each piece where texture is sculpted onto the canvas followed by acrylics, oils, spray paint, and mica powders. Aaron is based in Kansas City, Missouri, and will be in Booth 38.

This year, the Best of Show Awards will be presented to artists on Saturday, June 1, between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. by the art show’s three-member jury. The event map with artist locations can be viewed by visiting: https://www.pvartshow.com/map.
