Handmade Hats from Clyde

With an ardent fashion following, New York-based accessory label Clyde quickly distinguished itself with a discerning line of sharp, yet classic hand-blocked hats made from Italian materials at a small upstate New York millinery factory.

Sold in the best stores internationally, it’s no surprise that Leslie Fraley, owner of Finefolk Shop + Studio in the Crossroads, snapped up the collection exclusively in KC. She is carrying a nice representation of handwoven straw hats for summer, as well as cold-weather fur felt styles for the cooler months, along with an edited selection of totes and backpacks. In store now are straw minimalist styles with sculptural beauty. Each style features elastic trim at the interior band for the best fit and comfort.

“I love this line for its thoughtful details and quality, and that the styles are chic yet accessible—not too edgy,” says Fraley. “My favorites are those with detachable scarves, or neck shades, as the designer calls them. It’s nice to have a hat to last a lifetime—to keep the sun off your face while adding beautiful, considered style to your personal look.”
