Known as the go-to place for sports team tees and hats, Sonshine Sports Apparel in Independence became immortalized for their take on the line, “You gotta fight for your right to party” which Travis Kelce memorialized when the Chiefs found themselves headed to the Super Bowl. “That was a fun time for us,” says Sonshine Sports Apparel CEO Beckie Fite. “People all over the area and from across the country placed orders for that shirt. It was quite a surprise.”
When COVID-19 hit, Beckie and her team put their heads together and came up with a new design—Front Porch Happy Hour. “We thought we need to do our part to help others stay connected and not become isolated,” Fite says. “During this time of social distancing, we can enjoy time on our front porch and still be neighborly.”
Frank Buhro and Chuck Franks purchased Front Porch tees and have been wearing their shirts while practicing appropriate social distancing with their neighbors. “We loved these shirts and we love supporting local businesses,” says Buhro. “Some of my high school friends in Texas saw my post and wanted to buy shirts for themselves.”
So, don’t let social distancing keep you from being neighborly. Step out and enjoy Front Porch Happy Hour with your neighbors—and with a beverage of your choice. Get connected with one of their shirts—uh, at a distance of six feet or more, of course. (From $20-$22 + shipping)
