Foodie alert! Foodie alert!
Local author Ashley Nunez is unleashing a brand new cookbook series that’s all about homespun foods. Food For The Family Soul is a new take on those good ol’ fashioned family get-togethers. Each book in the series is designed as a catalyst to bring families together cooking in the kitchen. Call Your Mother–in-Law is the first in the series.
Designed so the kids can help you cook in the kitchen, these go-to recipes are perfect for families. “I wrote the cookbook because I believe that family is the center of what we need in life. Bringing families back to the table brings us back to the foundation of what’s makes us strong,” says Nunez. “As I was writing the book, my son and I were diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, so my focused changed a little and I added carb and protein counts.”
Nunez’s eclectic style stems from the perfect blend of her worldwide travel and living all across the United States—but the real kicker comes from the lessons she learned marrying into a Cuban family. (Cuban steaks, anyone?)
Even better? A lot of the dishes are keto and/or paleo-friendly. From Spiced Sweet Potatoes with Smashed Egg to Brussels Sprout Gratin to Halibut with Curried Cream, there’s a little something for everyone. “I will be sending out coupon discounts to be used on the Bookbaby store page or available through the sign up on my blog www.junkfoodkids.com.”
The cookbook hits stores next Wednesday or you can pre-order on Amazon. ($23.97)
