Aixois. There’s always something new going on at Park Place, and things really heat up this summer. Join café society at Aixois, the beloved French bistro with a new location, scheduled for June. “Park Place is definitely a place where I always wanted to be,” says owner Emmanuel Langlade. “It has a bit more character than other new places.” A native of Aix-en-Provence, Langlade and his wife Megan wanted to open another place where “people can come multiple times a week,” he says.
Mother Clucker!, which started in Parlor downtown, will serve up its signature Nashville-style hot chicken when it opens in July-August. Says co-owner/chef Derrick Foster, who operates the restaurant with his wife, Kylie—they both graduated from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America—Park Place “was the perfect location. A good, family-friendly place and a good opportunity to pair beers with chicken,” Derrick Foster says.

Movies in the Square
You’ll laugh, cry, and be entertained by cult-classics and family-friendly movies at Barkley Square. Don’t miss free movies such as Legally Blonde, Toy Story 4, and Rudy on Saturdays in July, September and October, beginning at dusk.
Park Place has all kinds of free and fun activities for kids on each second Saturday during the summer. The themed entertainment is always evolving, and the fun starts at 10:00 a.m. at Barkley Square and runs until noon.
Amp up the acoustic guitars and get in on the lawn games for a little fun every Friday night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Barkley Square.
A celebration of childhood, this club is open to all kids and meets every Tuesday in June and July from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Barkley Square for outdoor play, crafts, and other fun activities.
And then there’s Date Night.
Catch Happy Hour or perhaps a summer dinner at Aixois, Aqua Penny’s, Bamboo Penny’s, Mission Taco Joint, Plate, or RA Sushi. Sit on the patio or lawn at Barkley Square for live music performances by great duos and trios from 6:00 to 8::00 p.m. every Wednesday.
Does summer really have to end? If it does, then A Taste of Leawood on Saturday, September 21 from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. celebrates with a fitting finale. The streets of Park Place will be closed off to traffic so top restaurants, beverage purveyors, and performers can offer an unlimited “taste” to revelers.
